Description
1.Introduction
This is a video course related to the remediation of groundwater impacted by LNAPL hydrocarbons, using the pump and treat technique.

Light Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (LNAPL) hydrocarbons in a recovery bailer
Environmental remediation deals with the removal of pollution or contaminants from environmental media such as soil and groundwater.
The success of an environmental remediation begins with the well understanding of geology and hydrogeology of the contaminated site. This understanding is structured in a model, known as a conceptual site model. Another important piece of the success of remediation is the well executed installation of the remediation system, and that is the main goal of this course.

Groundwater Remediation based on the pump and treat technique.
2.Instructor
Marcel Abel is the Founder and Director of the GeoRGB community. Marcel has more than 10 years of experience as a hydrogeologist in the area of environment, working for the oil and gas industry at the up and downstream sectors. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Barcelona before going on to complete a Master of Applied Science degree, also in Geology, from the University of Barcelona. He has a postgraduate study on hydrogeology from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and a Master of Applied Science degree in Geographic Information System from the University of Girona.

Groundwater Remediation Video Course
4.Significance of this project
This is a 100% practical video tutorial course. There is no room for theoretical lessons. After taking this course, technicians will be ready to understand all the aspects related to the groundwater remediation and will be ready to initiate a groundwater remediation project. Most of the content related to this topic offered by other courses or books is that they are mostly theoretical, and they are not paying attention to important aspects like:
What has to be the diameter of the groundwater well to install a pump inside?
What has to be the extension of the groundwater well screen?
How deep does the groundwater well need to be?
How much room do we need inside the pit where the head of the groundwater well is located, where we have to install some of the staff for the remediation?
What has to be the diameter of the pipes to pass the hoses inside?
How can we connect all the groundwater wells to the remediation system?
Where do we install a sensor to avoid any flood on the remediation system unit?
How does the information of the remediation system need to be presented in a blueprint?
What kind of maintenance does the remediation system need?
And so on.
The practical view of this course marks the difference with respect to other courses with a similar topic.
5. The goals of this project
The main goal of this project is to deliver a practical video course about how to install a remediation system, based on pump and treat technique, for cleanup LNAPL hydrocarbon impact.
In addition, we want to contribute to the development of competent and qualified professionals in the environmental sector, and specifically in the remediation of groundwater.
Also, the GeoRGB Community wants to offer a very affordable and accessible price to the course to reach as much people as possible. The objective of this community is to transmit and share the knowledge.
6.Rewards and price of the course
The final price of the license to have access to the video course will be 50 USD. However, there is a reward that will provide you the course for half of the price.
Levels of rewards
Support:
Level 0: Pledge from 1 to 9 USD. Back it because you believe in it. Support the project for no reward. Every dollar counts and the GeoRGB community appreciates your help
Level 1: Pledge from 10 to 24 USD. Back it because you believe in it but you are not sure if you are going to become a student. The GeoRGB community will write your name at the end of the video course to show all the people that you made this project possible with your support.

Level 1 Reward. Pledge 10 USD
Level 2: Pledge 25 USD or more. Back it because you are really interested in this project and you want to take advantage of your support. The GeoRGB community will provide you access to the course license. You will have access to the full course without paying any extra money. In addition, the GeoRGB community will write your name at the end of the video course to show all the people that you made this project possible with your support.

Level 2 Reward. Pledge 25 USD
7.Why thje GeoRGB community set up a crowdfunding campaign
First at all, the GeoRGB community wants to make sure that there will be enough people interested in taking this course. As it is a quite specialized topic, it will be difficult to reach people. A crowdfunding campaign will be useful to test the potential students before to start the project. Creating a course with these characteristics takes a lot of time and effort, and an initial economic help to create the project will help a lot.
8. Funding goal and timeframe
The funding goal is 600 USD. This money will be invested on the creation of the course. As this amount of money will be not enough to create the full course, the instructor will advance the hours of work necessary to finish the full course. The course will be sold for 50 USD and the expectation is to get enough money to cover all the time invested. Â Â
The timeframe for the funding campaign will be initially 3 months. However, this timeframe can change depending on the money funding after the three first months. If we did not reach the funding goal, we will extend the period for increments by three months. As the GeoRGB Community website is new and the expected traffic at the beginning is assumed to be low, the timeframe can be extended to a maximum of one year.
After getting half of the funding goal the first four lessons of the course will be delivered in a period no longer than two months. Once achieved the final funding goal the full course will be delivered in a period no longer than two months. Â
